Jr. Civitan Club

Welcome to OGHS Jr. Civitan Club!!!

The Jr. Civitan Club is sponsored by the Hattiesburg Civitan Club. The club was created in the fall of 2011. The purpose of the Jr. Civitan Club is to allow students with and without disabilities to work alongside each other in service to their school and community. The club's first year was very successful!!! The club and it's members received numerous awards at the International Jr. Civitan Conference in 2012. The awards included: Club President of the Year (Sydney Sanders), Campus Project of the Year (for helping 6 students with disabilities become members of the Homecoming Court),  second place for Community Project of the Year (for the Warriors Got Talent Show), second place for Jr/Sr Club Joint Project (Fall Festival at the ARC) and Honor Club of Distinction!  And this year, we have many great projects planned!

What's Happening Now

WE ARE CURRENTLY RE-ORGANIZING OUR SPONSOR DUTIES!!!!  FIRST MEETING TO BE DECIDED SOON!!

1. We will also be working with ARC (for those of you who are interested.)  We can get you guys dates for the "respite weekends" and if you would like to go and volunteer your time, we would love to see you do that.
2. We will also be working to do some things for different people around our campus.  We are thinking of doing goodie bags, spirit posters, and even Jr. Civitan nights at different sporting events.  We want to support teams around campus and let them know we support them.  At times during the year, we will ask you to bring candy, posters, baggies, or different things to organize the mission.
3.  The sensory garden is the court yard off of "H Hallway".  It is a beautiful location and has required a lot of work, we need you to volunteer some time if your are good at working outside,  Mrs. Swilley will get you dates for when she needs your help.
4.  Arc Golfball Drop:  THis is a HUGE fundraiser and is CRITICAL to ARC being able to run the way it needs to.  Jr. Civitan Members need to sell at least ONE golfball each.  They are $100.00 and can be split between different people.  These balls will be dropped and the winner will win $20,000.  Forms are outside of G106.
6. You guys can earn points by participating in different activities for the club.  Points for meetings, bringing items we need, or working when asked.
